چکیده

Abstract X-Ray diffraction results for the study mine are mainly represented by two phases (phosphatic and non-phosphatic). First phase is apatite (fluorapatite) which dominant. The second includes carbonate minerals; calcite, dolomite, evaporated mineral (gypsum), sulphide (pyrite), in addition to quartz as a silicate mineral. These confirmed petrographic study. detailed microscopic examinations indicate that phosphorites at essentially composed of phosphatic lithoclasts (mainly collophane), bioclasts (bone fragments, spines teeth vertebrates such shark fish well coprolites), opaques, embedded microcrystalline matrix (contains some dahllite) associated with according their decreasing order abundance. paragenetic sequence studied follows: fluorapatite, collophane then followed dahllite. redox-sensitive trace elements, its ratios, authigenic uranium Fe/Ti can be signifying redox conditions. Also, they revealed rocks deposited under oxic anoxic environment coupled hydrothermal solution. rare earth elements generally rocks. Thus, Um El-Huwtat mine, Quseir considered sources elements. pyrite another possible source REEs. characterized light REE (LREE = 69 ppm) enrichment than heavy (HREE 25 ppm). Structural and tectonic evolution of the Umm Gheig/ El-Shush region, central Eastern Desert of Egypt

The rocks of the Wadi Umm Gheig/El-Shush area in the central Eastern Desert of Egypt form part of the Nubian Shield, a component of the Neoproterozoic Pan-African Orogeny. The rocks have been divided into three units: (i) low-grade metamorphosed rocks, which consist of metavolcanic rocks interleaved with slices of ophiolitic melange; (ii) high-grade metamorphic rocks, which consist of syn-tecto...

A revision of the Upper Cretaceous lepidosirenid lungfishes from the Quseir Formation, Western Desert, central Egypt

We evaluate new lungfish remains from the Upper Cretaceous Quseir Formation in the Western Dessert of southern Egypt. Taxa include Lavocatodus protopteroides, L. humei, L. giganteus, and Protopterus nigeriensis. We treat Lavocatodus as members of Lepidosirenidae based on the presence of a well-defined medial articular surface, in the absence of a symphyseal surface of corresponding prearticular...

Zr-Y-Nb-REE mineralization associated with microgranite and basic dykes at EL Sela shear zone, South Eastern Desert, Egypt

El Sela shear zone occurs in the younger granite rock of Gabal El Sela area, south Eastern Desert, Egypt near the Sudan Frontier. It comprises lines-arranged intrusions trending ENE-WSW and extend for about 1.5 km in length and reach up to 40 meters in width. These lines-arranged intrusions include multi-phase quartz veins, altered microgranite and altered basic dykes. These dykes hosting or ac...
